Lehigh Valley softball players well-represented on all-state team

The Pennsylvania High School Softball Coaches Association released its all-state team on Tuesday.

There were 14 local players selected, with four from Northwestern Lehigh, three from Palmerton, three from Southern Lehigh, two from Saucon Valley, one from Bethlehem Catholic and one from Parkland.

The Tigers had four players on the Class 4A team with junior shortstop Morgan Farthing and freshman left fielder Sage Toman making the first team. Farthing batted .597 with nine home runs and 34 RBIs for the Colonial League champions. Toman hit. 500 with three home runs and 16 RBIs. Tigers senior first baseman Molly Mitman and senior center fielder Kylie Zentz made the second team.

The Blue Bombers put three players on the Class 3A squad with senior catcher Megan Green and senior center fielder Megan Serfass making the first team. Green batted .494 with 12 home runs and 44 RBIs. Serfass boasted a .510 batting average with two home runs and 33 RBIs. Palmerton senior shortstop Emily Baumgardt was selected for the second team.

The Spartans had three players selected in Class 5A with senior third baseman/outfielder Holly Walter and junior shortstop Morgan Benner earning spots on the first team. Southern Lehigh senior outfielder Rylee Hobel made the second team.

The Panthers placed a pair of players on Class 4A with senior catcher/third baseman Jaclyn Barbera and junior Jennifer Barbera making the first team. Jaclyn Barbera batted .471 with 14 home runs and 67 RBIs on the season.

The Golden Hawks had senior center fielder Jaden Spigner on the first team in Class 4A. Spigner batted .443 with three home runs and 39 RBIs for the District 11 champions.

The Trojans put one player on the Class 6A squad with senior pitcher Katie Zaun making the second team.
