The 15 Lehigh Valley towns with the most expensive home values right now

It’s hard to find a home to buy right now in the Lehigh Valley.

The most recent monthly report from Greater Lehigh Valley Realtors says that in addition to fluctuating inflation, prospective homebuyers are also contending with low inventory and rising prices.

The rising prices in the region are aligned with national trends, but — as is always the case in real estate — it’s all about location.

A report published this week by the research-driven website Stacker ranked the Lehigh Valley towns with the most expensive home values.

Stacker used the Zillow Home Values Index (ZHVI) for all homes as of March 2023 to compile the rankings below.

“The ZHVI represents a seasonally adjusted price for the middle market for all homes,” Stacker says in its report. Data was available for 42 local towns.

The data for the Lehigh Valley is based on our Metropolitan Statistical Area, or MSA. In addition to Lehigh and Northampton counties, our MSA also includes Carbon County and New Jersey’s Warren County. It’s broken down by town, not individual ZIP codes, and may be representative of multiple municipalities that share the same town name for mailing addresses.

We’re only including Lehigh and Northampton counties below because of historical differences in the markets in Carbon and Warren counties. But for those who are curious: Jim Thorpe had the highest prices in Carbon County; Hardwick Township topped the list for Warren County.
